Workshop: Adobe Captivate Introduction

Objectives:

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:​​

  • Familiarize participants with the Adobe Captivate interface

  • Introduce key features for creating interactive videos

  • Provide hands-on experience with basic Captivate functions

Agenda:

1. Welcome and Introduction (5 minutes)​​

  • Briefly introduce the session objectives

  • Quick round of participant introductions (name and experience level with Captivate)

2. Adobe Captivate Interface Overview (15 minutes)​​

  • Launch Adobe Captivate and showcase the main interface

  • Explain the purpose of key panels: Timeline, Properties, Library

  • Demonstrate how to customize the workspace

3. Project Setup and Slides (10 minutes)​​

  • Create a new project

  • Explain different project types (Responsive, Blank, etc.)

  • Show how to add, delete, and rearrange slides

4. Adding Content (15 minutes)​​

  • Insert text, images, and shapes

  • Demonstrate how to import PowerPoint slides

  • Introduce the Media Library

5. Basic Animations and Transitions (10 minutes)​​

  • Apply entrance and exit effects to objects

  • Set up slide transitions

  • Adjust timing on the timeline

6. Interactive Elements Basics (20 minutes)​​

  • Introduce buttons and click boxes

  • Demonstrate how to create a simple quiz question

  • Show how to add hyperlinks to objects

7. Hands-on Practice (10 minutes)​​

  • Participants create a 3-slide mini-project incorporating:

    • Text and image

    • A button with an action

    • A simple quiz question

8. Preview and Publishing Options (5 minutes)​​

  • Show how to preview the project

  • Briefly explain publishing options (HTML5, video, etc.)

Instructions for Workshop Facilitators:

  1. Preparation:

    • Ensure all participants have Adobe Captivate installed on their computers

    • Prepare a simple sample project to use for demonstrations

    • Create a handout with key Captivate shortcuts and feature locations

  2. During the workshop:

    • Encourage questions throughout the session

    • Use a projector or screen sharing for demonstrations

    • Circulate during hands-on practice to assist participants

  3. Pacing:

    • Be prepared to adjust the time spent on each section based on participant needs

    • If the group picks up concepts quickly, you can delve deeper into advanced features

    • If participants need more time, focus on mastering the basics

  4. Materials needed:

    • Computers with Adobe Captivate installed for each participant

    • Projector or large screen for demonstrations

    • Handouts: Captivate shortcuts, feature guide, session outline

    • Sample images and other media for participants to use in their practice project

  5. Follow-up:

    • Provide resources for further learning (Adobe tutorials, helpful websites, etc.)

    • Offer a point of contact for post-workshop questions

Remember, the goal of this session is to give participants a broad overview and basic comfort level with Adobe Captivate. Emphasize that mastery comes with practice, and encourage participants to explore the software further on their own.
