Spring - First Sprouts

(Initial Growth)

The first signs of growth emerged as I encountered the COVA approach (Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authentic learning) in EDLD 5302. Like a seedling breaking through soil, I initially resisted this unfamiliar territory. My Growth Mindset Plan 1.0 reflected this early stage, focusing on basic beliefs about ability development. As documented in my course reflections, I struggled with the freedom to choose my learning path and take ownership of my education.

My innovation plan emerged during EDLD 5305, focusing on enhancing online learning through interactive videos using Adobe Captivate. This represented my first tender shoot of professional growth, aiming to increase student engagement and course performance by 10% in three months. The plan included specific strategies for implementing interactive elements, knowledge check slides, and mini quizzes - all designed to transform passive viewing into active learning experiences.

Working with my core collaboration group - Rose Rayner, Samara Marin, and Amburh Jernigan in 5302, and later expanding to include Anna Gonzalez, Rebecca Chang, Audrey Parcell and Regginee Booker in 5305 - provided the nurturing environment I needed to flourish. Together, we supported each other's growth, sharing insights and providing constructive feedback that helped shape our understanding of digital learning.

Working with an expanded collaboration group in EDLD 5318 - including Maria Montemayor, Kameco De Los Santos, and others - I gained valuable insights into instructional design and implementation strategies. Though I faced challenges in engaging my intended audience (coworkers) in usability testing, these obstacles were overcome due to my collaborative group.
